Just as Samsung let slip their 2009 HDTV range before CES, we have news on a great new LED LCD HDTV range from LG. The LG LH95 series looks set to claim the title for the world’s slimmest LED backlit LCD HDTV at only 24.8mm (0.976 inches) thick. LG willl present the LG LH95 series at this years CES in Las Vagas. Few details are currently known about the LH95’s but we do know it will feature LED backliting, boast a 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and the new 240Hz TrueMotion Drive, doubling their previous offering. Making everything flow nicely without judder or motion blur effects. No release date or price or currently known for the LG LH95, but we assume the first half of 2009. I recently received a CES Preshow Planner in the mail, and pasted on the cover is an ad for LG. Apparently, they are planning to unveil big things at the show this year, and one of them is the LG-GD910 Watch. The LG-GD910 is a watch that is a 3G-enabled mobile phone. It has a 1.4-inch touchscreen, and is about 0.6 inches thick. I figured that a cellular phone on your wrist might be a little large, because I’ve tried out MP4 watches that tend to feel like a brick on the wrist. The cellular watch phone also features a video conferencing, so you can talk into your watch to the person on the screen, like Dick Tracy or Electro-woman. HP just launched an updated MediaSmart Server, which is a small networked storage appliance that runs on Windows Home Server. There are a number of improvements, but the big thing is that it is now Time Machine friendly and Mac OS friendly in general, although you still need a PC to configure it. It’s good to know, if you’re a Mac-only person. This is not it, this updated version also have the ability to save data online, using the Amazon S3 service. That’s something that was high on the users’ wishlist. I bet that more online services will be available in the future. Them Jedi and Sith are pretty limited when it comes to weapons, favoring a lightsaber over everything else (be it single or double-bladed), but if the Shaolin Monks were around back then, we would probably have had lightsaber nunchuks, lightsaber spears, the works! Would be pretty challenging trying to master the lightsaber nunchuks unless you’re from a species that is able to grow back your limbs instantly while practising and have no pain receptors at all. Perhaps the boffins at Nokia have a penchant for origami, which is why they recently applied for a patent on Christmas that results in a Communicator-class device which can be folded out into a quartet of attached pieces, where one can deduce whether two will be used for a keyboard and the other two for the display. It remains to be seen as to what Nokia has in store for such a device, whether it will be a communications-centric smartphone or will it cater more for fun and games on-the-go? Isn’t it great when two seemingly different products can combine to make something unique?  Most of the time, when two products combine the result is something useful, but sometimes it’s pointless and unnecessary.  I’m not so sure how useful a USB flash drive and an eraser are when they combine.  Basically, this flash drive is coated with an eraser and every time you erase, it will steadily dwindle down.  Eventually, it will dwindle down so much, all that is left is the insides of a USB drive.  There isn’t any plastic to protect the device after that (as shown in the picture above) so you will have to be particularly careful in handling the USB drive when you have used up all of the eraser.  Good or pointless product?  You decide. A new robot concept is raising the hopes of the building industry that the high-tech future will be populated with smart excavating robots that will easily replace the high-cost of insurance-needing human contractors. If the Eddy machine comes to pass, it also appears that gravediggers soon will be looking for a job. The Eddy is a useful robot in the same tradition as the iRobots used by the U.S. Army. It is remote-controlled and can serve as a physical extension of its operator. It’s supposed to suck up dirt, debris, and other nasty stuff in the endless, joyless fashion of super tough engineering materials. Wristwatches have definitely become more advanced in recent years and the GD910 from LG is no exception.  In Korea, LG plans to introduce the LG-GD910 that comes with 3G and HSDPA connectivity, 1.43-inch LCD touchscreen, text-to-speech, MP3 playback, and Bluetooth connectivity.  Another cool feature is that it comes with a built-in video recorder and with this, you can hold video conferences.  No word on pricing as of yet, but LG plans to have this on display during the upcoming CES 2009.  Via [Akihabara News] Keep up with the latest gadget goodness! - Subscribe to our feed → Tags: mobile devices, home cinema, consumer electronics, wi-fi (Read the full post about ‘LG announces new 3G capable wristwatch phone in Korea’…)

In the winter for many people there’s a room that really doesn’t need to be heated as badly.  Actually you might be happier if it received none at all most of the time, especially since most people are trying to spend less money right now.  However, if you keep the vent closed all the time, it’s entirely possible to just forget to open it again.  Although you don’t really want much heat getting into the room, I’m sure you don’t want an in home iceberg.  Well this vent makes your life easier, it could help you save money, while still keeping the room at a reasonable temperature. I thought notebooks with two screens were silly enough, but Kyle Cherry’s concept design of a collapsible gaming laptop takes the word "impracticality" to new heights. His design features a primary 13-inch display accompanied by two smaller screens on the sides, amounting to a 26-inch notebook when unfolded. Closed, the notebook looks like a normal 13-incher. Dubbed the Prime, the notebook would include a dual CPU and two graphic processor units. Of course, the designer doesn’t mention how much this notebook would weigh — or the fact it should probably be sold with a back brace. I don’t play games much, so I’m unsure of how appealing such a device would be to gamers. What do you say, gamers?
