“Athletic Performance Sensing and/or Tracking Systems and Methods” is the title of a new patent applied for by Nike, in relation to its collaboration with Apple on something called Nike+iPod. While you probably thought that Nike finally ditched Apple when it released the Nike+ Sportband, this new patent reveals that Nike and Apple are actually on planning a few new things for their Nike+iPod team up, including adding support for activities other than running (such as yoga, karate, pilates and free weights) aside from expanding into the iphone and ipod touch lineup.
When the idea behind this patent bears fruition, expect it to provide you with ways to create customizable workouts, motivational playlists, and specific feedback for your sessions in order to help you keep track of your performance, whether you’re actually improving or not.
Well it’s about time they got to work on this thing. With all the gleaming tech under the hood of the iPhone, it’s not unusual to hear Nike+iPod being able to do all of this. And as with all great things, the question of course, is when, where, and how much?

A Sprint employee, Daryl J. Roy, working in Dayton, Ohio, recently took a liking to a female customer, Nicole McElveen, to which he has sold a phone. He began by sending text messages, but later he started sending picture messages. It began with simple text messages mentioning her appearance, and then requests to have dinner. Later he took it even further and started sending pictures, which began with his face and eventually turned into pics of his whole body, and naked pics at that. Also, an interesting thing is that she didn’t even have a plan that included picture messaging, so she would have gotten billed for those unwanted and very creepy messages, as a salesman you would have thought he would have taken that into consideration, of course being as creepy as he sounds he most likely would not have cared anyway.
Nicole McElveen said that she wasn’t interested in any of his advances, and they were uncalled for. Roy was clearly going against Sprint policy by using her cell phone number in this way, so when all is said and done, this will put himself and could also put Sprint in hot water. In court, McElveen is attempting to sue both Roy and Sprint for over a million dollars, due to sever emotional stress, loss of sleep, nervousness as well as hospital and medical expenses.
While a million seems like a lot, I certainly hope she wins the case because it wasn’t fair for Roy to do something like this to her, and maybe the next creep that thinks something like this is a good idea will have second thoughts.

What do you know? The former OLPC head of software and content did indeed resign at least partially over NickNeg’s growing fondness of Windows XP. In a recent soul-spilling interview with xconomy, Walter Bender made clear that he resigned his post at the non-profit due to the general de-emphasis of “radical projects like Sugar,” the innovative XO user interface which Mr. Bender was unsurprisingly neck-deep in during his stay. Essentially, he felt as if the outfit had stopped trying to “be disruptive” and started “trying to make things comfortable for decision-makers,” hence Walter darting out “to do his own thing.” Needless to say, the lead developer of Sugar isn’t satisfied with seeing his work forgotten, and while details have yet to be worked out, he is looking to “find a new central home for the community of educators and software developers who have been creating Sugar-compatible applications.”
